Why FCC?

Hear from Lead Pastor Drew McClellan as he talks about First Christian Church of Port Arthur.

Why FCC? According to Google there are over 500 churches in the greater Beaumont-Port Arthur Area so out of all of them why FCC? It’s not enough to simply say because we are different, which we are and people that come here can feel that upon arrival but that is said by every church so how do we get people to come here and why should they.

Because we are different. Over the last 5 years, as we have rebranded and found ourselves, we have traded religious ideologies for relationships by replacing the doctrines of man with the teachings of Christ. If some one asks you why FCC, tell them that we are running on Jesus’ summation of The Law - “Love God, love one another” and his commission to “Go, and make disciples”.

What does that look like? It looks like a community of people who care enough to know one another beyond just being members of the church, a body that is an oasis for those who are hurting, those who seek truth, and those who seek shelter from the storms of life. While this may not look like a traditional church it has proven itself extremely effective time and time again.

We strive example of the ministry of Christ. From the lady with the condition of bleeding, to the man healed by the faith of his friends, Jesus’ ministry was messy and it involved messy people. Some of you may think I’m crazy and maybe I am, but I believe if the church is trying to follow the teachings of Christ and the example of the Apostles, we cannot be wrong.

I am begging you to get involved - to become more than just an attender or a member. Immerse yourself in the culture and community here at FCC and together let’s make disciples who, regardless of age, race or appearance, desire to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Pastor Drew
